Dosage/Direction for Use
Supraventricular tachyarrhythmia 10 mg as single dose IV over 3 min. Management of abnormal BP during operation Bolus: 10 mg as single dose IV over 1 min. IV drip infusion: Rate of 5-15 mcg/min/kg body wt. Hypertensive emergency IV drip at the rate of 5-15 mcg/min/kg body wt.
Contraindications
SA block, 2nd- or 3rd-degree AV block; pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Severe bradycardia (<50 beats/min); 1st degree AV block.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness, fatigue, headache; facial flushing; skin rash; GI disturbances, constipation; bradycardia, AV block; increased SGOT & SGPT.
Drug Interactions
Enhances effects of antihypertensives; β-blockers, Rauwolfia causes bradycardia; increases blood conc of carbamazepine & digoxin.
